Reviewing Honorlock Exam Results Quickly

If you're using HonorLock in your Blackboard courses, reviewing proctored exam results can feel like one more thing on an already overflowing to-do list. However, with HonorLock, reviewing exam results doesn't have to eat up your entire afternoon.

This post draws on best practices from , and I'll show you how to make this process quick and painless.

Why Efficient Review Matters

Thanks to advancements in educational technology, online courses can manage much higher enrollment numbers, which means equally high numbers of proctoring results. Fortunately, proctoring technology like Honorlock anticipates this and does everything it can to ease workloads for faculty.

With HonorLock, you'll typically spend 30 minutes or less reviewing results for every 100 exam sessions. This is possible due to HonorLock’s combination of AI detection and live human proctors that intervene during exams when necessary to only flag the stuff that genuinely needs your attention. So, by the time you're reviewing exam results the most critical issues have already been escalated appropriately, allowing you to spend significantly less time on review.

So, how do you review what does make it to your desk?

The Simple A-F-V2 Method

Think of reviewing HonorLock results in three easy steps:

Access Your Results

Log into Blackboard, head to your course, and then navigate to the Books & Tools page to find the HonorLock assessment results. If something urgent comes up, you'll get an email that points you right to it.

Filter for What Matters

Here's where you save yourself a ton of time. Click the "Recommended" filter to see only the sessions with verified violations or high-priority flags. This keeps you focused on what really needs your attention.

View Violations

When you open a flagged session, HonorLock shows you exactly which moments to review. Just click on the violation to jump straight to that timestamp. No need to scrub through an hour of video to find a 30-second issue.

What Those Flags Mean

It's also important to be informed on what counts as "high-priority" when it comes to violations. HonorLock uses different priority levels to help you assess the severity of potential violation, based on your exam settings and what behaviors are allowed or not.
  • Low Risk: Things like background noise or a baseball cap, usually not a big deal
  • Medium Risk: Stuff like leaving camera view or looking off-screen frequently, worth a quick look
  • High Risk: Someone else in the room, phone use, or blocking the camera, these need your attention
  • Confirmed: Human-verified violations that definitely require your attention

Practical Tips for Your Review Process

Start with the alerts: If you receive an email alert about a critical session, address it promptly while the exam is still fresh in your student's mind.

Review everything with a violation: While you can review any session, prioritize those with human-verified violations to ensure you're addressing confirmed integrity concerns.

Use violations as teaching moments: When you do find a violation, talk with the student about it. Most of the time, it's an opportunity to clarify expectations rather than just assign consequences.

Get familiar with the process: After your next exam, poke around in the results even if nothing was flagged. Getting comfortable with the interface now means you'll be confident when something important comes up later.

The Bottom Line

Academic integrity matters, but so does your time. Luckily, HonorLock's streamlined review process using the AFV2 workflow helps keep you focused on key moments without sacrificing integrity or overwhelming your workload.
