Â鶹ÊÓƵ works together with the Ministry of Education (MINED) to strengthen the National School Nutrition Program (PINE-MINED) ¡ª the country¡¯s largest social protection initiative. Through this partnership, Â鶹ÊÓƵ ensures nutritious meals reach 180,000 students across 2,500 preschools, primary schools, and distance-learning centres in 47 municipalities of the Dry Corridor, one of Nicaragua¡¯s most climate-vulnerable regions. Together with MINED, Â鶹ÊÓƵ aims to transform school meals by gradually introducing fresh foods such as fruits, vegetables, and eggs ¡ª boosting essential vitamins and minerals for children¡¯s growth and development. Supporting school? vegetable ?gardens is part of this effort. Beyond food, Â鶹ÊÓƵ invests in safe water systems, energy-efficient school kitchens, storage facilities, and clean energy technologies, creating healthier environments for learning and meal preparation.

During critical times, Â鶹ÊÓƵ expands national efforts with the school feeding programme by providing a second meal. This emergency school feeding approach is a lifeline for vulnerable children and families, safeguarding food security and easing financial pressure when needs surge. During extreme weather events, schools also become more than learning spaces ¨C they transform into hubs for lifesaving food assistance, enabling rapid outreach to affected populations with in-kind aid. At the Government¡¯s request, Â鶹ÊÓƵ stands ready to deliver food assistance as part of its immediate response.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ aims to promote resilient food systems by making all food purchases locally, primarily from smallholder farmers, improving their access to new markets, fostering climate adaptation, and creating more inclusive value chains.

By demand, Â鶹ÊÓƵ provides national institutions and the humanitarian community with logistics and transportation services, procurement, facilities, technology and telecommunications support.
