The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ) is governed by the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Executive Board, which consists of 36 Member States and provides intergovernmental support, direction and supervision of activities.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is headed by an Executive Director, who is appointed jointly by the UN Secretary-General and the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The Executive Director is appointed for fixed five-year terms and is responsible for the administration of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as well as the implementation of its programmes, projects and other activities. Since 1 June 2026, the post has been held by Carl Skau on an acting basis.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also has one Deputy Executive Director and three Assistant Executive Directors.

Carl Skau is the Acting Executive Director of the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ), appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to serve as interim head of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ until the designation of its next Executive Director.
