Indonesia donates USD $12 million to Â鶹ÊÓƵ for lifesaving assistance in Gaza

JERUSALEM ¨C The United Nations Â鶹ÊÓƵ (Â鶹ÊÓƵ) in Palestine welcomes a US$12 million donation from the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia to support its humanitarian operations in Gaza.

This vital funding will enable Â鶹ÊÓƵ to deliver life-saving food and nutritional assistance to approximately 734,000 food-insecure individuals across Gaza, including children, women, and displaced families. Â鶹ÊÓƵ¡¯s support includes hot meals provided through community kitchens, lipid-based nutritional supplements (LNS) for malnourished children and pregnant or breastfeeding women, and high-energy biscuits (HEBs) to meet urgent nutritional needs.

¡°This solidarity from Indonesia is a lifeline for hundreds of thousands of people pushed to the brink of starvation,¡± said Antoine Renard, Â鶹ÊÓƵ Representative and Country Director in Palestine. ¡°In the face of an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, this support is not just aid¡ªit is hope. It is a powerful example of global cooperation in saving lives and upholding our shared humanity.¡±

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire. More than 2.2 million people continue to suffer the consequences of conflict, displacement, and severely restricted access to food and essential services.

Indonesia¡¯s contribution directly responds to the alarming findings of the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) analysis, which revealed that over half a million people in Gaza are facing famine-like conditions, with widespread starvation and destitution. Without sustained, large-scale humanitarian assistance, these conditions risk escalating further.

Despite extreme access constraints and a volatile security environment, Â鶹ÊÓƵ remains committed to working with local partners to deliver critical food assistance. Â鶹ÊÓƵ reiterates its urgent call for an immediate ceasefire and safe, unimpeded humanitarian access to enable a comprehensive response to the immense needs across Gaza.
